Sir Knights,

I hope this month finds all of you further down the road to recovery. I know we will all be struggling to get back to normal for a long time. May we all have a little extra patience as we deal with all the new challenges.

Please make every effort to attend the December 6th, 2005, meeting in the cafeteria. We will present a Chalice to Fr. John Talamo of Our Lady of the Lake Parish. This Chalice honors Brother SKs Vincent DeSanti and Sal Compagno, Their families have been invited to attend. The presentation will be made at 6:45 PM in the cafeteria followed by mass and our meeting.

Tickets for the Acompano Raffle are available. This program by the Louisiana State   Council supports seminarians at Notre Dame and St. Benedict’s Seminaries. Any one can purchase these tickets, so please contact me if you are interested.

Financial assistance is available from the State Council for those members with needs related to the recent storms. Please contact me if you need additional information. I continue to pray that God carries us all through these difficult times.

I hope to see each of you at the next Assembly meeting. (Tuesday, 6th December, 2005 – in the cafeteria.)

Vivat Jesu !

FAITHFUL  FRIAR                        Msgr. J.  L. Chotin 985/623-3632

My Brother Sir Knights,

I hope that all of you survived Katrina with that which is most precious, your lives!

Anything is just material. Katrina delivered a severe blow to our area and now is the time to start building again. It won’t be easy, but it can happen because of who we are. This storm brought out the worst in many people, but more importantly,  it brought out the BEST in most………people became painfully aware of their brothers who were less fortunate. This can only serve to make us stronger in so many ways. I am sure that most of us suffered loss, some greater and some less, but loss never the less.

We have already seen the ‘blame game’ starting, but let’s face it what will this change? It happened, it was ugly, devastating, maybe we COULD have been better prepared, but it happened! Now we pick up the pieces and move on. Some of us are without phones, power, food and water, but even as I write this crews from all over are working to repair and restore what can be restored.  I would imagine Patience, Faith and Love are the Keys to a bright future.

I’m sure you have heard it being asked, “Why did God let this happen?” I ask, “Why are we surprised?” Over the past number of years we have seen organizations seeking to have God excluded from our daily lives, our schools, our courts, even our private lives.

Maybe He got the message. It’s food for thought, not that I think it would be that easy to get God to ignore His Creation……….BUT IT IS FOOD FOR THOUGHT!

Vivat Jesu!

     Fr. Joe

COLOR CORP                          Commander SK Ron Geauthreaux,  985/624-3059

                                                                     rkc2187@aol.com

The Color Corp had ten Sir Knights, in tux, to assist as ushers at the OLL Confirmation. The class had 144 confirmants, together with many of the parents, grandparents, and other relatives and friends, filled the Chotin Center to capacity. Bishop Morin celebrated the Mass, plus the confirmation, in a record three hours. It was a very nice ceremony and the young folks from Chalmette were honored by being the first to be Confirmed and recognized. Ms. Holly, the DRE, thanked us very much and added that we will be invited again when the time arrives. We made a great appearance to our Church Community, and as the most recognized of all the degrees really impressed our fellow parishioners. Thanks to all who served and will serve in the future when full regalia, or just tux, is asked to attend. I welcome and encourage all Sir Knights to attend when our presence is requested.

Just a reminder, EVERY Fourth Degree member is eligible, and welcome, to join the Color Corps, NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY!

My Brothers I join with the Faithful Navigator in urging you to promote the Fourth Degree to those eligible Third Degree members. They do not have to become members of the Color Corp to become a Sir Knight. That can come later. I suggest you explain to them the only thing they need to become a Fourth Degree Sir Knight is a black tuxedo….and they can rent one for the exemplification.  Tell them!

Vivat Jesu !

It is an opportunity for the Sir Knights, and their wives, to get together and meet and get to know each other. Let’s all get on board and make this event a special night, Ya’ll come!

Vivat Jesu!

Cyrus

Sir Knights, your help is requested. At the November meeting we discussed putting together a list of K C members who are in business for themselves or who are retired and do part time work for others using the skills they developed over the years. The idea is to make available to other Knights the names of those Knights who a Brother Knight could call upon when a job has to be done, keeping our business with a Brother Knight, NOT looking for a discount or such but looking for someone we could feel confident with in doing the job properly. IF you are interested and have a service to offer please send me your name, address, phone number and the type of service you can provide. i.e, accountant, bricklayer, carpenter, etc.

You may contact me at 985/ 626-3471 or email at aldokc9249@charter.net. I will compile the list and publish it in The Charger. Maybe we can use this list to help one another.

Thanks,

  Vivat Jesu!

A SMALL SACRIFICE TODAY

What is a widow?

She’s the same woman who was a wife. She used to be a mother, now she’s a dad and a mother. She used to be a homemaker, and now she’s that and a handyman too.

She used to have an income to count on; it was enough money to pay the bills with some left over for family treats and, occasionally, a luxury. Now she has make do with one-third enough money to manage the household.

What has she done to deserve all this? Not a thing. She’s really a great person; her only fault was marrying a man who died too soon. And all her money troubles could have been avoided by listening to the life insurance philosophy of “a small sacrifice today to avoid a tremendous sacrifice tomorrow.”

Somebody always pays the premiums on life insurance. Either the husband and father pay for them while he’s alive or his widow and children pay for them later. How much of your income can set aside today to care for your family tomorrow?

Call me today, I want top hear from you.

Vivat Jesu!
