Brothers,
As our Columbian Year winds
down, we will be electing a new group of officers. They will administer your
Council for the next year. This will be done at the May meeting, Thursday,
May 1, at Vosbein Hall. Be sure to attend this meeting to cast your
vote!!!
David Ryan merits our great
big thank you for his job on the Monument to the Unborn. He repositioned
and repainted our Monument to the Unborn after vandals knocked it off the
base! Thanks Dave!
State convention is on May 3rd
and 4th at the Ponchartrain Center. Frank Achary and I will be attending.
You will be filled in on any information therein.

CHAPLAIN’S MESSAGE
The Miracle
of Wine
“Son, they have no wine.”
These words were spoken by Mary at a wedding celebration when a newly
married couple was faced with embarrassment. No wine meant no more party.
Mary stepped in and reminded Jesus of the plight of the young couple and
because Mama said so, Jesus worked his first miracle.
From that moment until now,
because Mama told Jesus, “Son….., Betty, Peggy, Bill or Peter needs your
help”, Jesus worked another miracle. We will never know how many miracles
Jesus worked because Mama reminded her Son that someone was in need of help,
maybe you or me or someone we love.
Pray for us sinners now and
at the hour of our death. Amen.

WHAT’S HAPPENING
- Msgr Lorio reminded us about the 1973 ruling of
Roe v Wade and the Right to Life. Human life is precious. We need to
save unwanted babies….consider adoption …..let’s not terminate life.
God gives us time to make peace with Him. All of us have time. Make
an Act of Contrition. No one knows when, where and how …. we need to be
ready!
- Brother Karl Marrero – suggestion. We need to be
more caring and welcoming of new members; otherwise they may leave our
council. Get them involved in council activities from the start.
Screen members before and at the admissions committee meeting to see
what their interests are.
- Pope Benedict’s first visit to Washington DC and
New York in April will long be remembered. Keep him in your prayers.
- We have new Council jewels! Thanks to Brother
Bobby Stevens who found a way to procure them for the Council. It’s a
Miracle! The jewels will now rest at the home of the Grand Knight, Hank
Sobon, and at the home of future grand knights thereafter.
- The last quarterly communion was well attended.
The next one is scheduled in June. Please make it a point to attend.
- Representatives for the State Convention on May
3-4 are Hank Sobon, Frank Achary. Alternatives are Bobby Stevens and
Sal Giardina. We look forward to their report.
- Ken Boe, son of Deacon Boe, made a pre-meeting
visit last month and liked what he saw. He is a potential recruit.
- One seminarian will be ordained this year. We
have a real shortage of priests in the area. Please pray for vocations.
- Sal Giardina suggested our Council consider
helping WYES TV raise funds. They need volunteers to answer the
telephones during the televised auctions. Sal will give us more
feedback at the next meeting.
