Cursey J. Vidrine was Louisiana Knights of Columbus State Deputy 1968 - 1970

Cursey J. Vidrine was born 1926 in Basile Louisiana.
He was a resident of Iota Louisiana. He Married Ethel Andrepont in 1947.
Later widowed, he married Jeannette Leger in 1988. Family includes two
children, five stepchildren and 16 grandchildren. Vidrine was a U. S. Navy
veteran of W W II, a member of American Legion Post 371, Serra Club,
and St. Joseph Catholic Church. He was a lay minister, president of CCD
and charter president of St. Joseph's Parish Council. Died Feb., 1991.
Accountant for American Rice Growers, retired as
supervisor for Commodity Buying Department of Riviana Foods, Inc. in 1985.
Also owned and operated an accounting, income tax and notary service and
served as Iota alderman and Acadiana Parish Democratic executive
committeeman.

Vidrine was asked to join by friend and neighbor
Isaac Friege. Vidrine served Iota Council 2982 in almost every capacity,
including a term as Grand Knight. He also held position of district
deputy, state secretary and state treasurer, and Faithful Navigator of
Msgr. Mono General Assembly Fourth Degree.
As an accountant, Vidrine emphasized sound record
keeping for financial secretaries. As a rice buyer, he always had rice on
the state banquet table! He provided direction during the formal
integration of the camping program and calm leadership in the wake of
Hurricane Camille. Through his "Crusade for Unity," the
jurisdiction achieved its largest membership and greatest number of
councils up to that point in history. In his parting message, Vidrine
revealed his philosophy: "No longer can we remain creatures of
circumstances, but (rather we must) be creators of great and honorable
courses and goals expected of the Knights of Columbus."
