"For me, the experience of winning the national membership award for
our division was the highlight of my administration. It vas the first time
in our jurisdiction's history that we came out first, winning with a 4.81
percent increase in membership. Receiving an all expenses paid trip to
Ireland as part of the win also was exciting. An important moment for me
as a Catholic and a knight was receiving Holy Communion from Pope, John
Paul II at the Papal Mass held in New Orleans in September, 1987."
